BIG CREEK ATV FALL FESTIVAL

The City of LaFollette will be closing some of its city streets and opening downtown to ATVs and inviting everyone to attend a festival style block party. This event offers something for all. Festival goers will be able to enjoy a wide variety of foods, crafts, unique items and new vehicle displays as well as a bounce house, climbing wall, and games for the kids. There will be prizes given away throughout the day followed up by a drawing for a FREE brand new ATV TRAILER! If that's not enough, live bands will be performing and it all ends with a spectacular fireworks display by our own Pyro Shows. 

There will be plenty of ATV/UTV excitement with over 600 miles of trails, and with a little help from the weather, plenty of mud. Best of all you will be able to ride right out of Downtown LaFollette into the mountains and then back again to continue the festivities without ever leaving your ATV. Maps will be provided for anyone who wishes to take off on a ride themselves, or for the less adventurous, organized rides will be leaving from town. (See ride information below) These rides will range from an easy 2 - 2 1/2 hour 20 miles trip to a challenging 5 - 5 1/2 hour 40 mile trip. Wildlife lovers be sure to ask about the famous Elk Viewing Tower ride.

"THE ATV CORRAL" For a small fee of $10.00, you can display your used ATV, UTV, Dirt Bike, or Trailer FOR SALE throughout the festival. What better chance to sell or trade? Contact us as soon as possible, space is limited. 

We have plenty of FREE PARKING for ATVs, UTVs, trucks and/or trailers. If the inevitable happens and your off road vehicle breaks down, there will be professional mechanics available at the festival.

Ride #1 – Elk Viewing Tower – will depart at 11:15am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm (please indicate your preferred departure time)

Ride #2 – Walnut Mountain/ Top of the World – will depart at 11:30am

Ride #3 – Short Mountain/ Meadow Branch – will depart at 11:00am

Unguided riders may pick up a FREE NCWMA trail map at the registration tent.
Details of each organized ride are shown below.
ALL rides will leave from the LaFollette City Parking Lot located behind City Hall.
ALL riders must register at the registration tent before departing. Festival and Rides are FREE.
ALL riders are required to have a TWRA PERMIT. These are available at hunting/fishing license outlets, LaFollette Sports Shop, or at the Festival.
ALL riders and passengers are subject to TWRA rules and regulations.

ORGANIZED RIDES

RIDE #1 - ELK VIEWING TOWER

Leaving downtown traveling approximately 4 miles to McCormick Cemetery Road Trail #24

Continue on McCormick Cemetery Road #24 approximately 4 miles to Elk Viewing Tower Road Trail #25

Travel approximately 1 1/2 miles to the parking lot. From here it is a 15-20 minute easy walk to the Elk Viewing Tower.

 

Easy Ride

Approximately 20 miles Round Trip

2 to 2 1/2 hours

Includes approximately 30 minutes at Elk Viewing Tower

This is the easiest ride offered in the organized rides. New riders as well as experienced riders will enjoy this ride with the opportunity to view elk during one their most active times of the year.

This ride is approximately 20 miles and will talk approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours

 

RIDE #2 - WALNUT MOUNTAIN, TOP OF THE WORLD

 

Leaving downtown and traveling approximately 4 miles to Walnut Mountain Trail #19

Travel approximately 6 1/2 miles on Walnut Mountain Trail to Top of the World Trail #3

Travel approximately 2 1/2 miles on Top of the World Trail to Freds Way Trail #28

Travel approximately 2 miles to Lee Asbury Road #13 then 1/2 mile to School House Trail #16

Travel approximately 1 1/4 mile on School House Trail to Jennings Creek Trail #8 and continue approximately 1 1/4 miles on Jennings Creek to Cumberland Trail #10

Travel approximately 1 1/4 miles on Cumberland Trail to Cell Tower Road #12 and continue approximately 1 mile on Cell Tower Road to Flat Woods Road #1

Travel 3 1/4 miles on Flat Woods Road #1 to Short Mountain Road #4, then travel approximately 7 3/4 miles on Short Mountain Road to Lee Asbury Road #13, and then approximately 5 1/2 miles back into the city

Medium Skill Ride

Approximately 35 miles

4 to 4 1/2 hours

Recommended for semi-experienced riders

This ride offers the best of both worlds. It is a mix between easy riding and some semi-challenging trails. This ride is recommended for riders with some experience but is not hard by any means. With a stop at the Top of the World, riders will be able to see the fall colors for several miles. Depending on the weather, there should be plenty mud to play in along the way. It is a little over 35 miles long and will take between 4 and 4 1/2 hours.

 

RIDE #3 - Short Mountain / Meadow Branch

Leave Downtown and travel behind Ivey Dale Church to Ivey Dale Trail #26 and travel approximately 5 1/2 miles to Flat Woods Road Trail #1

Approximately 1/2 mile on Flat Woods Road Trail #1 to Short Mountain Road Trail #4

Take Short Mountain Trail #4 approximately 7 1/4 miles to Flat Woods Road #1 and continue approximately 3 1/2 miles to Cell Tower Road #12

Travel on Cell Tower Road #12 approximately 1 mile to Meadow Branch Trail #7 and continue on Meadow Branch Trail approximately 4 1/2 miles to Jennings Creek #8

Travel on Jennings Creek Trial #8 approximately 1/2 mile to School House Trail #16; take School House Trail approximately 1 1/4 miles to Lee Asbury Road #13 to Broyles Branch and back to Lee Asbury approximately 3 miles

Take Lee Asbury Road #13 approximately 4 miles to Ivey Dale Road approximately 5 1/2 miles back to downtown

Challenging Ride

Approximately 40 miles

4 1/2 to 5 hours

Recommended for experienced riders

This ride is the longest and most challenging offered on the organized rides. It is recommended for experienced riders. Depending on the weather, there should be plenty of mud on these trails. Meadow Creek and Broyles Branch Trails offer some of the most spectacular arrays of fall colors in the Royal Blue Riding Area. This ride is close to 40 miles and will take between 4 1/2 to 5 hours.
